2004 Cardinal Invitational
February 28-29, 2003

Hosts: Stanford University, Sequoia Yacht Club, Port of Redwood City

Venue: The regatta will be sailed in PCISA Flying Juniors at the Port of Redwood City, Ca. Boats will be launched at the Public Ramp at the end of Chesapeake Blvd. Overnight boat storage will be at Stanford's Boathouse or on the lawn next to the public ramp. Boats will be inspected prior to launching.

Entries: Open to all PCISA member schools. Separate invitations maybe made to other ISSA Schools.

Registration: All Teams must pre-register both Gold and Silver Teams by Wednesday February 25th by 6:00 PM. On site registration will be held at the Public Ramp. A $25.00 fee will be assessed for late registration forms. Fees may be paid on the 28st with no penalty if your forms are in by Feb. 25th.

Fees: Entry Fee of $100.00 includes; entry fee, dinner and breakfast for four competitors. Checks should be made payable to Stanford University. Additional meal tickets may be purchased via pre-registration at a price of $10 for dinner and $5 for breakfast. A barbecue lunch will be available.

Format: Gold Fleet will consist of A&B Divisions in accordance with ISSA and PCISA Regulations. Silver Fleet and JV will consist of A&B Divisions. Round Robin Rotation system will be used, using the rules of the Interscholastic Sailing Association (ISSA) except as modified by the Sailing Instructions. Each Team will consist of two skippers and two crews, plus alternates if desired.

Boats: Club/Collegiate FJ's will be supplied by each school, PCISA sails will be supplied to the Gold Fleet. Silver Fleet should bring their own sails in the event that there are not enough PCISA sails to complete the fleet.

Charters: In addition, 10 boats are available to be chartered by Stanford. Please contact Brent Harrill, bharrill@stanford.edu if you would like to charter. Charter Fee $100 payable to Stanford University. Priority will be given to teams traveling the farthest.

Safety: It is recommended that sailors bring the appropriate clothing (wetsuits/dry suits) as the water this time of year is very cold. U.S. Coast Guard approved PFD's shall be worn at all times on the water. If the Race committee or jury determines that any competitor is not experienced enough for the conditions, or not wearing sufficient apparel for the conditions, and their safety is jeopardized as a result, those competitors may be required to return to shore.

Housing/Food: A list of some area hotels is available. A barbecue lunch will be available. Dinner and Breakfast are included with registration. Extra meal tickets maybe purchased at registration or pre-registration.

Directions: From Hwy. 101 in Redwood City, take the Woodside Rd/ Seaport Blvd. Exit. Go East on Seaport Blvd. Follow approximately 1/2 mile to 2nd lighted intersection. Turn left on Chesapeake. Follow to end, public ramp is on the right, rigging and parking on the left. Do not block the ramp while rigging.
